How to fix your blue screen errors in Windows

If you’re anything like me, a blue screen error can have you screaming for the nearest computer technician.  Most of the time, we feel that any computer problem is way beyond our capabilities.  The truth is, with a little patience and some know how, some of our blue screen errors can be addressed without having to call in the cavalry.  Try these troubleshooting tips to both help fix common blue screen errors, and take some preventative measures to help stop problems before they start.

Driver issues and faulty or outdated apps are often at the root of this type of problem.  Your first step with solving these issues is to close down any open program on your desktop. Check to make sure that you have the most updated version of malware installed.  If not, update before proceeding, and if you’ve already got the most recent version, run it now.  Once that has been completed, disconnect from your internet, and restart your computer.  Start tapping the F8 key, and, using your arrow keys, select the Safe Mode when the Advanced Windows Boot Option Menu shows up.  Back in your malware program, run a complete system scan.  You’ll want to quarantine or delete the threats that the malware program locates.

A clean computer registry is critical for keeping your system running smoothly and error free.  It your registry has been compromised, you’ll need to clean it up using registry maintenance software.  This clean up should be done on a regular basis to help keep your computer running at top capacity.  You can find free registry software online.

If you have never cleaned up or updated programs and applications, you’ll want to take the time to do that as well.  Look in your Control Panel and find Programs and Features.  Once there, you can either remove programs that you don’t use anymore or update with a newer version.  If you enable your automatic update, then the computer can keep tabs for itself in future on all Windows updates once they’re released and will automatically install them for you.

• Always ensure that you scan an external device before attaching it to your computer or laptop.
• Always ensure that your anti malware is the most recent version and that you use it regularly
